Introduction

The site is defined by the separation between earth, sky, and water. The idea is to create new islands within the site so that the space next to the water is increased. These new areas of wetlands are inhabited by bird watching sheds. I have made and remade colour studies of mark Rothko’s coloured paintings, being aware of their elegant proportions. The small buildings in my proposal are designed with this as a generator. The buildings play with the relationship between earth and sky, their pigmented facades making new horizons in the landscape.

These tiny sheds are carefully placed either adjacent to the water, or sunk into the ground so that they emerge from the high grasses. Each is designed as a compliment to the quite and tranquil atmosphere
