The City and the Stadium

The Arsenal Stadium

The project is approached by addressing four separate scales. Firstly, the City Ensemble – this is how the scheme relates to the surrounding area (the urban fabric) and how it functions as a public urban space. Secondly, the Existing Stadium – how the new scheme affects the existing buildings and how they have been altered to adapt to their new purpose. Thirdly, the Central Intervention – this is the covered market space that is designed to provide the central focus and house the main activity for the scheme. Finally, the Market Buildings – these are smaller enclosed units that break-up the space within the central intervention and link to the scale of the surrounding city, which taken alone, create a piece of city within a city.
