One Large and One Small Building
The new scheme seeks to retain the qualities of the site, and works around the existing 'SpillersMillennium Mill'. Like the existing Mill the proposal has one large and one small building. The new buildings form an ensemble, creating two courtyards. These each have a very distinct identity; the first is characterized by a new wetland which enters into the space, the second by the water of the adjacent docks. The buildings address the water with 'pure' simple forms while the internal courtyards have a more clustered, broken quality. The form of the large building is a 'barn' which forms a backbone, of which two more decorative, filigree 'lean-to's' extend
